About Social Enterprise
It is estimated that:
- There are around 30,000 social enterprises in Scotland
- Contributing £1.25bn to the economy
- Employing around 30,000 people
One of the best known examples is The Big Issue. It delivers social benefit to the homeless through sales of a magazine. All profits made from sales of the magazine are put back into social outcomes.
