Community Learning Exchange to Prep Table

Social enterprise Prep Table uses top quality, healthy, locally produced and ethically sustainable food in their café and external catering service, whilst also providing space, support and education about food to encourage wider changes in the food industry. Prep Table acts as a food consultancy, catering and education service for charitable organisations who support people, to show them “the true power of food”.
Since founding PrepTable Fiona has learnt so much – as she says herself:
I have also learnt an incredible amount from our funders, the groups of which we are members, and other social enterprises. I could not have done this without being lucky enough to have my mentors. Legal structures, finance, funding applications, monitoring social impact, policies and procedures and employing people are examples of what I have had to learn.
Through the CLE, Fiona will share her experiences – to help others be better placed to develop and strengthen their social enterprise sustainably, to navigate the challenges involved, to understand the importance of self-care to their social enterprise and people and to highlight the importance of developing support networks
Learning Outcomes:
- What’s involved in the different stages of developing a social enterprise from idea to building an organisation and life after.
- How to build an infrastructure (and reasonable expectations) to increase sustainability for those running the social enterprise and the organisation itself.
- The importance of connecting with charities, communities, fellow social enterprises and public sector bodies to produce and maximise more effective low risk social outcomes.
