Building Financial Confidence in Social Entrepreneurs

Join us for an inspiring event to learn from lived-experience social entrepreneurs on how they’ve built financial confidence, and learn about our new programme to help social entrepreneurs master the finances of their businesses.

One of the biggest obstacles social entrepreneurs face is mastering the financial side of their business.

Most social entrepreneurs we support are driven by their passion and lived experience to solve a problem. But many of them don’t start with business or financial skills. This could be because of a range of factors, including:

  • Dyslexia or another expression of neurodivergence
  • Not having followed a ‘traditional’ educational path
  • Caring responsibilities or low income prevent them from engaging in business or financial education

We know that building a sustainable business is key to delivering sustainable impact, and we want social entrepreneurs to succeed.

To tackle some of these barriers, we are excited to team up with lived-experience social entrepreneurs from Pride Outside CIC and Wild & Kind CIC to deliver a transformative support programme for social entrepreneurs.

The programme will show social entrepreneurs how to manage their business finances with confidence – enabling them to grow their enterprises sustainably, raise funding and create positive change for people and planet.

Celebrating diverse thinking with a special one-off event

Join us for an inspiring event to learn from social entrepreneurs who have faced similar hurdles and celebrate the launch of Firstport’s new programme for neurodivergent social entrepreneurs and others who have faced barriers to mastering finances. Starting February 2025, the programme will be delivered in partnership with lived experienced social entrepreneurs – Ellis (they/them) and Lou (she/her) from Pride Outside CIC and Trudi Donahue from Wild & Kind CIC.

Whether you’re just starting your entrepreneurial journey or looking to scale your impact, we will be celebrating your creativity, innovation and resilience that comes from being neurodivergent as well as sharing strategies on navigating some of the challenges.

Lou (she/her) from Pride Outside will be hosting this special event and will be in conversation with Ellis(they/them) from Pride Outside and Trudi (she/her) from Wild & Kind. Ellis and Trudi will be sharing their own personal stories and lived experiences of growing their own social enterprise as neurodivergent social entrepreneurs – from challenges they have had to navigate to strategies that support them to grow!

You will also have the opportunity to hear more about Firstport’s new four-week programme to support neurodivergent social entrepreneurs and ask any questions you might have.
